It is indicated for the treatment of seborrhoeic dermatitis associated with bacteria (Staphylococcus pseudintermedius) and yeast (Malassezia pachydermatis) and is an aid in the treatment of ringworm (dermatophytosis) infections in pets. Malaseb contains chlorhexidine (antibacterial) and miconazole (antifungal) which kill organisms associated with seborrhoeic dermatitis.

Pyohex Medicated Conditioner is an aid in the treatment and the prevention of recurrence of superficial bacterial dermatitis associated with Staphylococcus intermedius in dogs.It is formulated to moisturise the skin while reducing bacterial numbers associated with skin disease. Pyohex Medicated Conditioner is formulated to kill cutaneous micro-organisms which primarily or secondarily cause dermatitis. Chlorhexidine gluconate, the active ingredient in Pyohex Medicated Conditioner, has a broad spectrum of antibacterial activity against most bacteria that are commonly found in cases of superficial bacterial dermatitis. It binds strongly to the skin and coat, providing up to 14 days of residual antibacterial action after application, reducing the frequency of bathing.
