A long acting intramammary cerate containing cephalonium, a semi-synthetic cephalosporin antibiotic. It is formulated to give effective antibiotic levels in the non-lactating udder. For the sustained, broad spectrum control of and protection against mastitis-causing bacteria (including penicillin resistant strains) in non-lactating dairy cattle. Aids in the reduction of clinical mastitis and subclinical mastitis in the subsequent lactation.
Active Ingredient: Each single dose 3g syringe contains 250mg cephalonium dihydrate in a long-acting base.
Indications: Ceprotect DC aids in the reduction of clinical mastitis and subclinical mastitis in the subsequent lactation. Ceprotect DC is a broad spectrum cephalosporin antibiotic which has a bactericidal activity against the majority of organisms associated with bovine mastitis. The antibacterial activity is not impaired in the presence of milk.
Dosage: Prior to infusing Ceprotect DC clean and disinfect the teat. The contents of one syringe should be infused into the teat canal of each quarter immediately after the last milking of the lactation. Infuse one syringe of Ceprotect DC into each quarter then teat dip or spray the teat. Wear rubber gloves when infusing this treatment.
Withholding Periods:
MILK: DO NOT USE in lactating cows or within 49 days of calving. After calving, colostrum or milk from treated cows MUST NOT BE USED for human consumption or processing for 96 hours (8 milkings).
MEAT: 21 days
