Induction of abortion in the bitch from 0 to 45 days after mating.
CHARACTERISTICS
BENEFITS
Presentation: 10 mL vial, containing 30 mg/mL aglepristone
CHARACTERISTICS
- Subcutaneous injectable.
- Two injections 24 hours apart.
- Contains aglepristone, a synthetic progesterone antagonist.
- Aglepristone binds to the uterine progesterone receptors with three times stronger binding affinity than endogenous progesterone. Once fixed to these receptors aglepristone blocks the signals that would otherwise allow successful ova implantation and subsequent maintenance of pregnancy.
- In early pregnancy, Alizin prevents implantation by inhibiting endometrial changes and modifying uterine secretions.
- In late pregnancy, Alizin prevents progesterone from maintaining gestation and induces a true termination with expulsion of the foetuses.
BENEFITS
- Simple protocol – 2 injections 24 hours apart, anytime from day 0 - 45 post mating.
- Very effective – in early pregnancy (day 0-22 post mating), Alizin has been shown to be >99% efficacious. In mid pregnancy (day 23-45 post mating), the efficacy is approximately 95%.
- Safe – it does not increase the prevalence of uterine infections. No negative consequences on the reproductive function of the bitch.
