As a premedicant to an anesthetic, it can lower the amount of induction agent and gas required, potentially lowering the risk for your patients.

Indications: Dexmedetomidine Hydrochloride Injection is indicated for use as a sedative and analgesic in dogs and cats to facilitate clinical examinations, clinical procedures, minor surgical procedures and minor dental procedures. Dexmedetomidine Hydrochloride Injection is also indicated for use as a preanesthetic to general anesthesia in dogs and cats.

Dosage & Administration:
Sedation and analgesia
Dog: 375 mcg/m2 intravenously (IV) or 500 mcg/m2 intramuscular (IM)
Cat: 40 mcg/kg IM
Preanesthesia
Dog: 125 mcg/m2 intramuscular (IM) or 375 mcg/m2 intramuscular (IM)
Cat: 40 mcg/kg IM
