Anaesthetic Premedication, Tranquilliser and Travel Sickness Injection

COMPOSITION
ACP 2. Acepromazine maleate 2.7 mg (= acepromazine 2 mg)/mL

ACTIONS
Acepromazine is a CNS depressant with associated activity on the autonomic system, In addition, the compound possesses antiemetic, antispasmodic and analgesic properties.
Acepromazine counteracts emesis due to central action, thus curtailing travel sickness when premedication is used. As a preanaesthetic agent, acepromazine can reduce the amount of barbiturate necessary for inducing anaesthesia by one-third, It potentiates both barbiturate and gaseous anaesthetics.

INDICATIONS
Anaesthetic premedication, tranquilliser and travel sickness suppressant.
Dogs, cats: tranquillisation and handling of otherwise intractable animals, Abdominal palpation, restraint for X-ray, fracture reductions and minor surgical interventions are facilitated.
Dogs. As an adjunct in the treatment of strychnine poisoning.

PRECAUTIONS
Acepromazine is a potent vasodilator and should be used with caution in situations of low blood pressure or poor cardiac output.
