The MILA IV Break-Away Device is designed to help prevent accidental IV catheter removal caused by excessive tension on fluid administration lines. Installed between the fluid administration set and the catheter extension, the device is engineered to separate before enough force is transmitted to dislodge the patient's IV catheter. When disconnected, both ends automatically seal to help prevent blood loss, fluid loss, and contamination. Unlike other break-away devices, the MILA IV Break-Away Device can be easily reconnected by disinfecting both ends and snapping the device back together, helping reduce catheter replacements, treatment interruptions, and associated costs.
- Designed to help prevent accidental IV catheter removal caused by excessive pull force
- Connects between the fluid administration set and IV catheter extension
- Acts as the weakest point in the fluid path to help protect the IV catheter
- Both ends automatically seal when disconnected
- Helps prevent blood loss and fluid loss following accidental separation
- Helps maintain a cleaner patient environment by minimizing leaks and spills
- Easy to reconnect by disinfecting both ends and snapping the device back together
- Reconnectable design helps reduce unnecessary catheter replacements
- Supports gravity flow rates greater than 220 mL/min
- Ideal for active or restless patients in both small and large animal settings
- Compatible with standard luer lock fluid administration systems
- Economical solution that can be incorporated into routine fluid therapy protocols
