FLUKARE® C PLUS SELENIUM fluke treament for cattle and sheep
For the treatment of susceptible early immature, immature and mature liver fluke (Fasciola hepatica) in cattle, sheep and goats. An aid in controlling selenium deficiencies.
WHAT IS FLUKARE® C PLUS SELENIUM?
RECOMMENDED FOR
Areas where liver fluke is found, typically throughout south-eastern Australia generally where rainfall is 600mm or more or in drier areas where irrigation channels are accessible by livestock. This includes south-eastern Queensland, eastern New South Wales, most of Victoria and parts of Tasmania and south-eastern South Australia.
Treatment Timings Autumn Treatment (compulsory)
7 – 10 days following the first frost. Designed to clean out the fluke prior to the stresses of winter.
Spring treatment (compulsory)
Break the liver fluke lifecycle by removing any fluke that have survived winter. Prevents the contamination of pasture with fluke eggs as temperatures warm up. This treatment should occur prior to the spring break.
Summer / early Autumn (tactical)
Recommended for areas with extended periods of warm conditions. Ideal timing is January or February treatment to suppress fluke numbers.
Mid winter treatment (tactical)
For areas where fluke infection can continue all through the year such as warm coastal areas a mid winter treatment may also be necessary.
WHY CHOOSE FLUKARE C PLUS SELENIUM?
Contains triclabendazole
Triclabendazole is a member of the benzimidazole family of drenches, but unlike the other members it is liver fluke specific. It is by far the most effective fluke molecule on the market, giving better control than any other flukicidal active.
Controls all three stages of liver fluke
Triclabendazole controls all three developmental stages of the liver fluke, from the 4 week old (early immature) stage through to fully mature adults. Treating early immature and immature liver flukes reduces the damage caused by the fluke to the animal’s liver, which in turn reduces the likelihood of death and minimises overall production losses.
Contains selenium
Selenium deficiency is common in the higher rainfall areas where the liver fluke is prevalent. Selenium deficiencies can increase the effect a worm burden can have on animals through suppressing their immune systems. Other problems associated with selenium deficiency are ill thrift, infertility, reduced production (milk, wool and meat), scouring and ‘white muscle’ disease.
Easy flow formulation
FLUKARE C PLUS SELENIUM has been formulated to flow through standard drench guns easily. This allows for quick and easy application even at low temperatures.
