The MILA Fecal Impaction Evacuation Catheter is designed to facilitate the removal of impacted fecal material in dogs and cats as an alternative to traditional digital extraction and enemas alone. The semi-rigid catheter is advanced beyond the impacted feces, where the inflatable balloon can be used to gently mobilize and retrieve material while irrigation fluid is delivered through strategically placed side holes proximal and distal to the balloon. This design allows thorough lavage, softening, and evacuation of impacted fecal matter while reducing the need for repeated manual extraction.

  • Designed for removal of impacted fecal material in dogs and cats
  • Alternative to traditional digital extraction and enemas alone
  • Semi-rigid catheter body provides excellent control during placement
  • Smooth, rounded atraumatic tip facilitates insertion
  • Inflatable balloon helps mobilize and evacuate impacted fecal material
  • Side holes located proximal and distal to the balloon allow thorough irrigation
  • Supports administration of saline, lubricant, or enema solutions
  • Female luer lock port provides secure syringe attachment
  • Separate inflation port allows independent balloon inflation
  • May reduce clinician exposure to repeated manual fecal extraction
  • Designed for repeated irrigation and evacuation during obstipation management

How It Works

  • Lubricate the catheter and advance it beyond the impacted fecal material.
  • Infuse saline, lubricant, or enema solution through the catheter lumen.
  • Inflate the balloon with air using the dedicated inflation port.
  • Continue irrigation while gently massaging the abdomen to help loosen impacted feces.
  • Slowly withdraw the catheter while maintaining gentle traction to facilitate evacuation.
  • Repeat as necessary until the impacted material has been removed.
