Description
Metacam Oral Suspension is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) and is used to reduce the pain and inflammation related to musculo-skeletal disorders in cats and guinea pigs.

Metacam oral suspension can be used in cats for both chronic (long-term) musculoskeletal conditions, such as arthritis, and acute (sudden and short-lived) musculoskeletal disorders, such as an injury.

Metacam oral suspension can also be used to reduce post-operative pain and inflammation following soft tissue surgery in cats and guinea pigs, and orthopaedic (e.g. fracture repair) surgery in cats.

Metacam contains meloxicam, which belongs to a class of medicines called non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). Meloxicam acts by blocking an enzyme called cyclooxygenase which is involved in the production of prostaglandins. As prostaglandins are substances that trigger inflammation, pain, exudation (fluid that leaks out of blood vessels during an inflammation) and fever, meloxicam reduces these signs of disease.

In cats, Metacam is used to reduce post-operative pain and inflammation following orthopaedic (e.g. fracture operation) and soft tissue surgery. Moreover, Metacam for Cats is used for the alleviation of inflammation and pain in both acute and chronic musculo-skeletal disorders.
